Jr High Committees and Chairs

Volunteer Committee

The Junior High runs a few events and activities throughout the year. We are coordinating a general volunteer committee and asking for assistance for events as they arise. If you are interested in being added to our Group ME thread to volunteer with the Jr High, send an email to saapoecdirector@gmail.com with Jr High Volunteer in the subject line. 

North Committees and Chairs

Book Fair

The Book Fair is an awesome event to raise money to stock our libraries. Partnering with Scholastic, we run the fair 2-3 times a year and 50% of all proceeds to go to school to use in the library, classrooms, and for literacy nights. 

Parent Teacher Conference Dinner and Snacks

This committee is in charge of coordinating a dinner and a snack for Parent Teacher Conference Weeks. Dinners typically take place on Wednesdays and Snacks are provided for Thursdays. Our current Chair Person is Chelsea Hawkins.

Musical 

Our annual musical is always a big hit with the students! The director is responsible for coordinating and executing auditions, rehearsals, and performances. Our current director is Chelsi Craven. 

Choir

This committee coordinates and operates the choir. The Director will help write the program, choose music, run rehearsals, teach materials (songs with movement) and direct the choir during performances. 2023-24 choir is tentatively planned for January-May, with a concert on May 1.

Family Fun Night

This committee will coordinate and execute a family fun night fundraiser. Our event this year is "Scales and Tails Jungle Adventure" and is scheduled for February 2. 

Teacher Appreciation Week

The Chair and Co-Chair will work together with the school administration to plan and carry out Teacher Appreciation week. This consist of planning decorations, gifts, dinner and a snack. This job requires creativity, strong communication skills and reliability. 

Field Day

This position is responsible for the entirety of the Field Day activity. Duties include scheduling a date with the administration, obtaining and organizing volunteers (via Signup Genius), planning activities/stations, arranging treats, obtaining equipment and advertising for the event. The POEC member over Field Day will advise on and help carry out your plan, especially when concerning budget and safety. This is an intensive position requiring many hours.  Multi-tasking, ability to work well with others, creativity and daytime availability are requirements for this spot. Our Chair Person is Nicholas Coleman. Our Co-Chair is Tayler Sangiorgio.

Fundraising Chair

This committee is in charge of contacting local organizations and coordinating fundraisers. 

Math & Literacy Night

This committee will support the school's Literacy Coach in helping plan and implement Math & Literacy Night. 

Antelope Committees and Chairs

Book fair

Class Captains

Class Captain Chair is a year-long position which requires organization and delegation skills as well as follow-through and strong communication. The Class Captain Chair will select/request class captains for each teacher and make sure the Class Captains are communicating with their classes (announcing field trips, creating signups for volunteer time in their classes and generally making sure parents know what’s going on in terms of events and class volunteer opportunities).  This position can be easily done from home, but one must be quick to respond to emails and texts, and stay on top of calendar events and keep in contact with teachers and the Principal. We are in need of a Chair and Co-Chair. 

Musical

The Musical Chair will run the musical for Antelope campus. They will plan the musical and work with the Treasurer to purchase rights to the chosen musical. They are responsible for Auditions, Rehearsals, and Performances. Our current Director is Brie Corrington.

School Wide

Uniform Buy and Sell

This committee is in charge of coordinating the uniform buy and sale. This event is held every year before school starts and occasionally a 2nd sale takes place in the late winter. Our current Chair Person is Alison Brown. She is looking to train a replacement. Contact her at SAAUniformsale@gmail.com for more information.

Web Site Coordinator

This person is tasked with maintaining the POEC website. The position requires you to have an understanding of how to use Google Sites. The person will need strong communication skills and follow through. The position will consist of 1-2 hours per month. Our Current Chair is Julie Baer.

Help Counter

Help counter is our volunteer tracking program. We use this to log all of our volunteer hours. Our current Chair Person is Julie Baer. 

Volunteer Appreciation 

This committee works to recognize all volunteers at their campus. They will coordinate gift cards, treats or certificates and award individuals who are coming to the school and donating their time. Our current Chair Person is Jamie Davis.
